About BRLC

Blue Ridge Literacy Collective partners with schools and districts to turn research into practical, confident literacy instruction.

Everything we teach and share is grounded in evidence-based practice and built for real classrooms.

Meet the Founders

Amie Burkholder

Amie is a K–5 literacy specialist and coach passionate about hands-on, science-aligned literacy instruction. After 5 years in the classroom and 7 years in coaching, she now supports educators in her district and through her business, Literacy Edventures, and membership, Route2Reading.

Amie discovered the Science of Reading while teaching first grade, when she realized balanced literacy and packaged programs weren’t reaching all students. Determined to better support struggling readers, she earned a master’s in reading and pursued Orton-Gillingham and LETRS training.

After years of study, research, and classroom application, Amie now confidently shares the strategies that transformed her instruction.

Savannah Campbell

Savannah Campbell is a K-5 reading specialist. She has taught her entire 11-year teaching career at the school she went to as a child. Recently, she was named Teacher of the Year for both her elementary school and all elementary schools in her district. She holds two master’s degrees in education from the College of William and Mary. Savannah is both Orton-Gillingham and LETRS trained. She has worked through transitioning from a balanced literacy mindset to structured literacy. Her greatest hope in life is to allow all children to live the life they want by helping them to become literate individuals.

Professional Development

Blue Ridge Literacy Collective exists to bridge the gap between literacy research and classroom confidence.
